Are you a local authority looking to launch a mobility survey?
A transport operator seeking to better understand the layout and performance of your services?
Do you manage a public venue and want to optimize your visitors’ journey?
Do you need a study on traffic flows?
There are several methods for accurately counting flows of people or vehicles.
At MV2, we group them into three main categories, to be used depending on the population being studied and the objectives of the survey.
Manual vehicle or passenger counts
This is a quantitative survey that is simple to design but more complex to implement in the field. Our approach differs depending on whether we are counting road traffic (vehicles) or people arriving at a specific location.
Depending on your study’s objectives, we conduct boarding/alighting counts, entry/exit counts, and select the appropriate locations for measuring flows (train stations, stops, platforms, highways, etc.).
For these surveys, we use mechanical counters and 4G tablets with geolocation and timestamping to provide you with real-time data.
Origin–destination surveys: a questionnaire designed to capture every mode of transport
The purpose of this type of study is to understand the travel habits of a specific population. Widely used in mobility research, it must take into account new multimodal behaviors — from cycling to public transport to private cars.
To achieve this, we design transport questionnaires tailored to your objectives and distribute them to reach your target population.
Studying flows within a specific space
Shopping centers, train stations, public services… Managing the movement of people within a building is a key issue for improving service efficiency — and safety.
For this type of study, we measure incoming and outgoing flows and identify areas of dispersion and attraction depending on the time of day.
For greater precision, we can complement simple or directional counting with a survey designed to better understand your visitors’ travel habits and expectations.
